As I am still doing Prac 5 I therefore have a shotlist... one of the images I have to do is a double page spread for a magazine.. I decided to shoot my GHD and accessories as it is purple.. I wanted moody lighting that focused right on the product to give it specialised feel.. tell me what you think..

more from studio second checkpoint

More images from second checkpoint.. Ive cropped both to see which is better.. Am thinking I might present half my folio as square format and half as vertical.. I guess I'll decide later on.. Am happy with both these images just cant decide whether I like the copped version or full version better.. Comments welcome!
Checkpoint two...

Not sure if I really like the first image.. It kinda doesn't go with the style of all the other images.. Will have to think about it more.. As for the perfume bottle.. this was only a test shoot and therefore I didn't use a light meter which I now realise I should have as the top of the image is way too dark and the bottom has flared.. Plan to re-shoot next week.. Any comments welcome!
more from studio first checkpoint..

More photos from the first checkpoint.. I really liked the cropping of the first image, but there wasn't enough light in her hair, and I wasn't really happy with her facial expression. I liked the second image but the earrings were too much and same with the last one where was too much happening in the image.. Decided to re-shoot.. will post new image!
Studio first checkpoint

These images I showed at first checkpoint. The first image the shoes were too big for her to stand up in...this was the best shot I could get but I still wasn't happy with it so I decided to re-shoot.. I really didnt like her hands and nail polish on the second one so I decided to re-shoot it too..I am really happy with the fascinator, just have to fix up the lines on her neck and the cyc was filthy..Comments welcome!
Second Location Shoot
First Location Shoot

My first location shoot went well.. Although my camera was playing up and not connection to the lens properly and therefore her face is out of focus! grr.. I really like the one where she is kneeling on the ground.. I like how the background drops out of focus and how its all green around her. The other one is to distracting with the line of trees in the background. Am going to try and re-shoot and maybe even use lights as the main light and use the daylight as fill.. will see how I go!

Examples of work for my Studio Folio

Here are some examples of the work I want to do in the Studio. As I am doing accessories I have chosen the theme of the colour purple to tie all my images together. I am going to have my images black and white and the accessory in colour to make it stand out more and so that it is very obvious that the image is all about the accessory. I have completed one successful shoot and will post images once they are fully completed :)
These examples are from the Giorgio Armani Spring/Summer 2009 Ad Campaign and the Photographers were Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott.
Examples of work for my Location Folio

This semester for my location folio I will be doing Environmental Sport Portraits... Here are some examples I found..
Some of the sports portraits I will be shooting are:
Womens Rugby Union Players
Motorcross Riders
Mountain Bikers
Irish Dancers
Horse Riders
I haven't done a proper shoot just yet but should be doing one this weekend and will post photos then :)

Photo Prac 5 for me this semester!
As everyone is aware I'm a semester behind when it comes to the Prac work..
So for this semester I will be shooting purple accessories in the studio, some of the images will have models and others wont. I am quite excited as I have been doing lots of research and have decided that I will make my images black and white with the accessory still in colour, so that the viewer can focus mainly on the accessory itself. I have found lots of awesome purple accessories as well as realising I have some at home myself! Cant wait to get started shooting this week :)
I have been checking out the latest fashion ad campaigns by famous designers such as Giorgio Armani, Marc Jacobs, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Dunhill & Valentino. Some of the amazing photographers for these campaigns include: Mert Alas & Marcus Piggot, Steven Meisel, Steven Klein and Greg Williams. I found most of these ad campaigns on the Haute Fashion website www.hautfashion.com which has been very useful!
For location I am doing environmental sport portraits. I will be taking portraits of sports people dressed in their appropriate sporting attire and they will be at the place where their sport takes place. Some people I already have lined up include: Irish Dancers, Equestrian Riders, Womens Rugby players and Motorbike Riders. I am also in contact with a swimmer, a soccer player and a netballer. Am hoping to have everyone locked in and everything finalised by next week :)
Will post some example pictures later on!

Me & CIT this semester
FYI - As some of you may be aware, on the 26th February (2 weeks ago) I dislocated my right knee and also managed to break my fibula just above my ankle. This is the other knee from last year!
Unfortunately this means I have to push back my prac classes for this semester, which also means lucky me gets to stay at CIT for an extra semester than you all! I will still be continuing with the Tuesday classes just not the Wednesday ones...
I do however look forward to still seeing everyone's work as so far what I have seen on your blogs looks fantastic - keep up the good work and cant wait to catch up with you all next tuesday :-)

....Photos....

Yay! I finally worked out how to post photos....Yeh I know I am a bit slow!... This whole blog thing still confuses me!
These photos I took a couple of weeks ago (when I was mobile, before the whole thing happened with my leg!) whilst I was looking after my friends children, Kaitlyn who is 3 1/2 and Joshua who is 18 months.

AUtonomies by Jessie Boylan with Emma King
Last week I went to see the latest exhibition at PhotoAccess - AUtonomies by Jessie Boylan with Emma King.
This is a fantastic exhibition and definately a must see! It is on until the 8th March.
http://www.photoaccess.org.au/files/Autonomies.pdf
AUtonomies is about the Intervention in the Northern Territory. Jessie and Emma travelled throughout the Northern Territory in late 2008 and took photographs and recorded oral histories of the people who are most affected by the intervention. I really enjoyed this exhibition and loved listening to the recordings of the people in the communities.
I really liked the way Jessie has photographed the people in their communities. Working at The Australian Institue of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies and being an Indigenous person myself, I was really excited about what this exhibition had to offer and how it helps people understand more about the terrible intervention that is still continuing on today...

Frustration!!!!!
Argh....I am wanting to shoot accessories (handbags, shoes, jewellery, hats, scarves etc...) for my studio folio and after spending a rather large amount of money on 'high quality' magazines I have realised that all 'high quality' brands shoot all of their accessories either on extremely simple (black, white, silver, grey) backgrounds or they shoot with models....
I was wanting to shoot with different props in the background but am wanting a theme or something of the like to focus on the item being photographed, ie different props for the background... I cannot find any magazines that provide images with simple but great backgrounds that arent with models or white backgrounds! If anyone knows of any magazines/brochures etc that have images like this please let me know!!

You learn something new everyday!
Whilst doing some research for my small products I stumbled across this little video about Karl Largerfeld...I knew he was a designer and a fashion icon but I didn't realise he was also a renowned photographer!
http://watch.fashiontelevision.com/fashion-icons/designers/karl-lagerfeld/clip99418#clip99418
Although this is probably old news for some, I found this and his work rather interesting...He must be a very busy man!

First Post - woot!
Hmm...first post...I'm excited for this semester!! I was stressing, but now I am quite excited since getting our shot lists! Documentary Location & Small Products/Accessories Studio...I have so many ideas!!
Whilst I was researching for my small products I stumbled over this website, http://www.viewonfashion.com/index.php? which is all fashion related, but I thought it was great! It has alot of great photographs as well as gives you bio's on the designers and photographers etc!
Still deciding on my three events to photograph at the moment and am also currently in the process of talking to the manager at GUESS to see if I can photograph their accessories for my small products..
