This Semester!
I am so excited that this semester is nearly over! I feel I have grown and developed myself this semester as well as my work having grown. I am excited to be nearly finished studying so I can start exploring with more personal work.
I feel this semester has been my best so far as I was able to explore a little more with what I actually wanted to do, it was all up to me, which has been challenging but a lot of fun! I am looking forward to being able to explore more with both of the series I have worked on. I want to do more portraits of women as well as start a portrait series of men. I want to explore more with similar images to that of my location folio.
Overall this has been an exciting, challenging and rewarding semester and I have loved spending every minute of it doing my own thing!

Checkpoint Five - Studio
Checkpoint Five.. yipee! Nearly there!
The last four of my studio portraits.. I am totally, one hundred percent in love with this folio, and cant wait to continue exploring more with Indigenous faces!
These are all pretty self explanatory, the only thing I would like to mention is that I did not do any more editing to my own photograph than the others!! I did re-shoot it from the original test shoot, which is also on my blog, but I didn't edit anymore than I did with everyone else!!
Hope you've enjoyed my series as much as I have! Can't wait to start my men's series now :)

Checkpoint Five - Location
I have decided that with this series I want people to take whatever they want and whatever they can from it. I dont want anyone to have to see what I see or feel what I feel when viewing these images. I am hoping everyone takes something different away from viewing this series.
So these images.. The first one is my finale shot for this series. I love it. The idea for this one was like a final, tie it altogether kinda idea where I decided to throw in another person seeings he was all alone in all of the other shots.. To me it kinda proves that there is Indigenous culture everywhere mixed in in urban environments as well as rural environments.
Flagpoles image I love.. I think it is cool how you can still see Telstra Tower in the background and I think the poles have an awesome effect..
Third image down - Reconciliation Place.. Love that spot, especially at night. Have decided against using this image. I dont feel it is as strong as the others and not only that but his attire has fallen...
NLA shot.. love! I love the building and that's why I chose to use this environment. I love the pose as well..
Final shot out the front of work (AIATSIS), I feel this is a very strong image, with the colours and the pose, love how it represents Uluru and the Australian desert but it is in the city and it's made of cement! Need to reshoot this image (will be doing that tonight!) because I struggled with focusing and unfortunately didnt get any decent shots.

Checkpoint Four - Location
More location.. At the time I thought the car wash shoot was kinda cool, but once we'd finished the subject actually said to me, "Dont you think it will look racist, a young black kid washing a new car? Like what is it people will see?" Which to be honest I didnt actually think about whilst I was shooting, but now when I look at these images I can see what he means. I also put these images with the other ones from the series and they dont fit.. So that was a waste of time!
So out of all of these four I will only be using the first image. I love how the whole light pole is in the image, but I think it could do with some more of the road.. Maybe I will have to reshoot it, but hopefully I can get the car lights the same cos they're a huge part of the image..
I like the second image, because of the dirt path that has been worn into the grass but I just dont feel it is very strong..
Hopefully shooting again tonight - just hope its not as freezing as it was last night!!

Checkpoint Three - Location
Location, location, location... My title for this series is 'Culture.Identity.Place'
Well I thought I was really struggling with this folio.. I know I chose a tough topic, but after spending an hour with Silvia she really helped me clear my head (thanks Silvia!!).. I have come up with a title for this series, and have realised that I dont have to have a particular path that I am going down with these images. I can explore and grow and let the series develop as we go along..
These are my four most recent shots.. I am not comfortable with the first image, I dont feel that it is working as well as the others.. It looks too posed, which is what I definately do not want!
The other three are just what I had planned and saw in my head! So I am happy :) Got another couple of shoots this weekend and next week.. Let's hope it doesnt get too cold at night!!
